Couple who met at Emerson Elementary remember the school fondly

In this video posted on YouTube by Billy Wade Saturday, a couple who met while attending Emerson Elementary talk about how they met and share their memories of the school.

Sadly, Emerson, a building with character, will be demolished soon. Of course, Joplin has shiny new buildings with 21st Century architecture in the place of buildings like Emerson and the old South Middle School where I taught.

I didn't go there, but every time I end up in the neighborhood I'm always a little sad about it's neglect and non-use. I like the smaller neighborhood elementary schools that still exist, not just for the character of the schools buildings themselves but also because the larger schools feel more impersonal at times. Smaller schools feel more like they belong to the neighborhoods in which they are situated. Irving as it was died somewhat in the tornado; Emerson, too.

I was just telling my wife that they should use that building as a homeless shelter.....

No more homeless shelters in Joplin, please.

Hello Mr.Turner,

If you are going to use others Youtube videos then the right thing to do is give them credit for their hard work. Mr. Wade "Billy" worked hard to prepare the video you have grabbed from his Youtube feed. If you do not edit your blog and give credit to Mr Wade the next action for us to take is a cease and desist.

Kind Regards

If this is not a joke and I am assuming it isn't, perhaps you should have actually checked out the post before you sent your threatening message. Your message was sent at 7:43 p.m. (the times on my blog are two hours off). I gave Mr. Wade credit. I had already said this afternoon on my Facebook page that I would do so and I did. There was never any intention of not giving him credit.

Though now that I think about it, it is hard to believe that any kind of legitimate law firm would be handling its business through the comments section on a blog.
