Man in his 50s is Newton County's 24th COVID-19 death


The Newton County Health Department announced the county's 24th death due to COVID-19.

In a news release issued this evening, the department said the victim was a man in his 50s who had been hospitalized for COVID-19.

Statistics posted this evening on the Health Department Facebook page show the county confirming 15 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 1,784.







The number of people who are under isolation increased from 294 to 295, while the number hospitalized remained at 10.

The statistics do not include the portion of Newton County that is located in the Joplin city limits.
