Diamond parole absconder, two others arrested, meth confiscated

On 10/06/2025 at about 03:00am Newton County Deputies were following up on an investigation attempting to locate Jessie M. Cumpton, 39 of Diamond, a person who was a reported parole absconder and believed to be in the Diamond Mo area. 

Cumpton is currently paroled for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle and also had an active warrant from Newton Co for possession of a controlled substance.








The deputy’s investigation led them to a residence on Quail Rd near Aspen Rd. Through their investigation, deputies were able to confirm that Cumpton was at the residence. They began to call him out of the residence and Cumpton exited the residence and was taken into custody. 

While at the residence deputies made contact with several other people including Phillip R. Loyd, 63 of Diamond, who was also arrested for a failure to appear warrant for a traffic violation, from Diamond Mo as well as William S. Thomas, 29 of Neosho, who was arrested for a failure to appear warrant from Joplin Mo for Obstructing Police.

While on scene deputies observed items in plain sight, that led them to believe there was further criminal activity involved. The deputies sought a search warrant through the Newton County Prosecutors Office. After the search warrant was granted, the deputies conducted a further search and located suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia inside the residence. 








Jessie M. Cumpton is currently in custody at the Newton County Jail, FTA Possession Controlled Substance $1,500 bond and Parole Violation No Bond.

William S Thomas is currently in custody at the Newton County Jail, FTA Obstruction Joplin PD No Bond.

Phillip R Loyd posted a $250 bond for FTA for a traffic violation from Diamond PD.
