Neosho man charged with assaulting girlfriend with baseball bat

The Newton County Prosecuting Attorney's office charged a Neosho man with domestic assault after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend with a baseball bat Friday.

An arrest warrant was issued for Marshall Frederick Hunt (DOB 1985) with bond set at $5,000 cash or surety.

From the probable cause statement:

On October 3, 2025, I, Deputy Kunlman, was dispatched to the (location redacted)  in reference to a domestic disturbance. While driving westbound, I observed V1 walking on the shoulder. She flagged me down but was notnimmediately located. I later found her lying in a ditch.

V1 stated she had fled her residence after being assaulted with a baseball bat by her boyfriend, Marshall Hunt. She reported he had locked her out of the home earlier in the evening, and she had to climb through a window to prevent food from burning. She alleged Mr. Hunt chased her with the bat and struck her.

I observed injuries on her left forearm and back, and she complained of wrist pain. I photographed her injuries. While transporting her back to the residence, she stated there would be damage inside the home caused by Mr. Hunt.

At the residence, I observed broken glass and three damaged doors. Mr. Hunt claimed V1 broke in and denied assaulting her. Based on che evidence, visible injuries, and conflictirng statements, I determined probable cause existed to arrest Marshall Hunt for Domestic Assault in the Second Degree. He was transported to Newton County Jail.

The case was investigated by the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
