(From the City of Joplin)City officials and East Town neighborhood leaders invite everyone to the Groundbreaking Event for Ewert Park’s Renovation at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28. Ewert Park is located at 846 Murphy Boulevard, just northeast of the intersection of 7th Street and Illinois Avenue.
The refurbished Ewert Park will offer unique features and fun areas for year-round use, including a splash park for warmer months and a surrounding ice ribbon for ice skating in the winter months.
A new playground area, basketball courts, and an amphitheater are also planned, along with historical markers noting significant people and milestones related to Ewert Park.
Joplin Parks and Recreation Director Paul Bloomberg chaired a committee of citizens and City staff to review options and develop plans for this 14-acre park.
