Showing that a lobbyist can be effective without buying expensive dinners and drinks and lavishing gifts upon elected officials, Andrew Blunt, who represents many powerful interests, once again failed to spend a penny on any of them during the month of July, according to documents posted on the Missouri Ethics Commission website today.
This continues Blunt's remarkable streak of not having spent any money for any client since his brother became governor in January 2005.

hey randy-
iam as anti-blunt-family as they come, and decry the influence big money interest have over our election and legislative processes.
so this isn't an attack, just a question from an avid reader.
you are up in arms in a lot of your posts about lobbyist who spend money on the political class, and i appreciate the info on what special interest is buying which politician.
but it also bothers you to know end that matt's brother spends no money on politicians in his lobbying.
i don't see a happy ground between a lobbyist spending money on elected officials, and NOT spnding money on elected officials (short of shooting all the lobbyist), so what is it that you are looking for?
Thanks,

I am hard to please, aren't I? Actually, even though I do constantly decry the amount of the gifts, what really bothers me is the access lobbyists have to legislators that ordinary citizens do not have. Some use dinners and drinks and ballgames, while others use their connections. It all amounts to some people having a far greater chance to get what they want from our elected officials than we do.
