Pete Newman arraignment set for Thursday morning

Former Kanakuk Kamp director Pete Newman's arraignment on felony sex charges involving underage boys is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Taney County Circuit Court.

At this stage, if Newman enters a not guilty plea again, the next step will be to set a trial date.

Randy,

Any thoughts on whether Pete will servce his sentence concurrently or consecutively (if he is convicted)? It sure seems like a concurrent sentence is getting off way too easy in my opinion. Thanks for updating as usual!

I don't know what to tell you about the sentencing, but my guess is the Taney County prosecuting attorney is not planning to let Pete Newman off with a slap on the wrist.

Is the case expected to go to trial?

It would surprise me if it did, but on the other hand, I can't imagine that Newman is going to be offered any really good deals.

Either way, he's got too much facing him. He's guilty of too much and he should know he's not getting away with it. Long prison term, short term, or not going at all-----he's NOT going to get away with this here or in the afterlife.

So, if he pled guilty today, what would the next step be?

Randy,
Thank you so much for keeping us up to date. There is suprisingly little coverage of this topic by others.
Do you know what happened this morning?

Randy, it says on Casenet that a request was made by the Defendant for disclosure and that a plea was offered.

Does this mean that Pete Newman is looking to see what type of evidence the prosecution has against him before he decides whether or not to proceed with a trial?

Or does this mean that he's already offered some sort of plea???

Can you clear any of this up??

Thanks.

Hello friend at 11:40 - I think Pete and his Attorney are requesting certain legal disclosures from the P.A. without a court order and without a plea deal. My guess is they're bluffing to the P.A. that they are willing to go to trial, when if fact, they really don't want that. I think they are bluffing in order to arrange some sort of plea offer.

Don't know anything about this Pete Newman, but from what seems to be out there on him, I have to ask if he's completely crazy?!?!?!?! He'd be a fool to go to trial!

I just read in an on-line news source out of Springfield, MO that Pete pled not guilty again, and that another court date is set for January 21.

If he is as guilty as you say, then he might as well go to trial because he has nothing to lose.

You fools act as if he is not going to get any deal but that at the same time he is going to admit to something and 'fess up and go to prison for life.

So, if he has no other choice, he will end up having to fight like a cornered rat. A cornered rat with nothing to lose might bite hard.

Bite what?

1:13--WHAT? Explain what you mean.

When would suicide become an option? Is he on a suicide watch?
