Petition drive for Joplin city audit concludes

A petition drive seeking an audit of the City of Joplin is complete with organizers collecting approximately three times as many signatures as they needed.

More than five thousand signed the petition, which was started by TAMKO CEO David Humphreys. According to the state auditor's office, only 1,776 signatures were needed.

The petitions will go to the state auditor's office to have signatures confirmed.

The petition drive initially also included a request for an audit of the Joplin R-8 School District,. That was dropped after State Auditor Thomas Schweich agreed to do the audit at the state's expense.

Good! Hopefully audits of the City of Joplin and Joplin R-8 will flush out the corruption.
