R-8 Board sets special meeting to discuss strategy for district improvement

The Joplin R-8 Board of Education will discuss strategy for district improvement during a 5:30 p.m. Tuesday special meeting at the Memorial Administration Building.

The agenda also includes bids for two projects.

The board is expected to approve a $58,450 contract for Satterlee Mechancial Contracting Corporation to extend a gas line into the HVAC lab at Franklin Technical School.

Also on tap is a $254,067 contract to Trane USA to replace defective HVAC units at Columbia, West Central, and Kelsey Norman elementary schools.

Wonder if they bid the gas line work this time? or just handed it to Satterlee like always. Hmmm.

A HVAC lab with no gas line? How do you teach how gas appliances such as boilers water heaters and furnaces work without a gas line? Bottled propane? That's not nearly as safe as natural gas. You would think someone should have thought of this at the tie the building was designed.

Whose whoops is this? Too much might as well spending led to shortcuts?

Might as well make it right at higher cost as to do it right the first time.

Here is one to dig into Randy.

Unless $58,000 worth of questionable spending isn't worth it.
