Farmington Republican: Greitens should do the honorable thing and resign

(From Rep. Kevin Engler, R-Farmington)

Hard to ignore the elephant in the room at the Capitol this week.  As you know, a committee had been formed to investigate the facts surrounding the alleged misconduct by Governor Greitens.  After weeks of hearings and testimony, the committee released its findings this last Wednesday.  To access this report, click on the House website at www.house.mo.gov.  Then go to “Special Investigative Committee on Oversight.”    Please note, not a pretty read.  I did endorse the Governor; I am now embarrassed by his actions.  I think he should do the honorable thing for his family and for our state by resigning. But, he will have his day in court and then we’ll see what will be.

Work on the House and Senate floor has continued this week and I will keep you informed of the bills of mine that are now waiting to be heard on the Senate floor.  HB 1288 (benevolent tax credits) and HB 1289 (initiative petitions) and HB 2122 (motor vehicle sales).

Other issues being discussed is the charter school bill.  It is virtually a dead bill and not going anywhere.  Gun legislation has been brought up, possibly a good bill but this is not the time to be addressing any gun legislation.
