Request for speedy trial for accused Jayda Kyle killer withdrawn

There will be no speedy trial for Jalen Vaden, 22, Carl Junction, the accused killer of three-year-old Jayda Kyle.

Judge David Mouton approved a motion from Vaden's attorney Tracey Martin today in Jasper County Circuit Court  to withdraw her earlier request for a speedy trial. The prosecution had no objection.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for 9 a.m. May 22.

Vaden is charged with second degree murder and felony child abuse for allegedly committing the abuse Nov. 30 that led to Jayda Kyle's death three days later at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR READERS

The Turner Report/Inside Joplin continues to report news that is not available from other area media sources, but this is a one-man operation and it takes money, especially to provide in-depth, investigative reporting, as well as important news about our community, crime, courts, and to continue to provide free obituaries and not charge grieving families hundreds of dollars for something that was once considered news (and is still is at the Turner Report/Inside Joplin.)

Currently, the Turner Report receives approximately 14,000 unique visitors a day, Inside Joplin between 11,000 and 12,000 and Inside Joplin Obituaries about 6,000. Of that total, the number that have subscribed or made contributions is barely over 100.

At one point a few months ago, it appeared that even with the small number of contributors, the Turner Report/Inside Joplin, was going to be able to continue at the same pace, with the same amount of content and perhaps even more. Since that time, as Turner Report readers are aware, my budget has been thrown off considerably, due in part to unexpected car payments I am having to make thanks to an uninsured driver and I will soon be incurring considerably more costs of a major nature due to something I have delayed doing for several years, but which circumstances are requiring me to do now. (More information about that will be revealed later.)

Subscriptions are $30 for a year, $3 per month or $1 per week by PayPal or credit card if you use the PayPal button below.

Contributions of any amount, large or small, can be made through the "donate" button.

Contributions or subscriptions can also be mailed to me at Randy Turner, 2306 E. 8th, Joplin, MO 64801.

If the work I am doing is benefiting you or if it has benefited you in the past, please consider paying what you can to maintain an alternative news source for Joplin and the surrounding area.

I think this is a smart move for this case. This will hopefully allow all the facts in this case to surface and leave no stone unturned.

I thought the purpose for the speedy trial was to get him out of jail quickly? Will there be another press conference to tell all those Jalen supporters who are funding his defense why? It sure seems very odd!

@5:34 If I had to guess this is due to a LACK of supporters, especially the financial ones.

Devyn is a troll. Why, why, why does she insert herself in all the comments? Trying to prove she's innocent? Geez, seems more guilty than innocent to constantly be on these feeds. Attention seeking! I don't think she can stand not being the center of attention. Loves to argue with everyone. As a mother myself I wish she'd stay off of social media. I want to believe she didn't do it and wasn't involved but every time she post a response to a comment it drives me crazy. I do truly believe Brenlee wasn't told anything at the hospital that's why she is able to honestly defend her sister.

Sorry but 5:34 wasn't posted by Devyn. Go ahead and keep spinning to make her look bad. The truth is coming out about who really was being corruptive!

@11:52 spinning what? I keep an eye out for these articles specifically to place a mental bet on when Devyn will comment. She's making herself look bad. As her friends you should really give her some advice. I would not be interested in what anyone is saying if I know the facts. Just let them be. People are passionate about this because a baby died. And mom is starving for attention arguing with anyone and everyone about 'lies'. SERIOUSLY! This family says she makes her posts public so it can be shared.. What? She should only be concerned with sharing with her 'friends'. Does she need to have Brenlee's friends (or whoever else shares her post) believe and support her? I mean- looks like the public posts are to get the word out there: "Look world- I'm innocent- it says it right here in my post on FB- please share with all your friends."

It doesn't matter if she never laid a harmful hand on the child, she carries guilt in this. The lifestyle she has led to this guy being welcomed in her home and given the responsibility of caring for the child. Those are decisions that the mother made and they led to the death. She put her own wants ahead of the protection of her child. There is no way that this kind of abuse was a one time occurrence. Abuse this severe doesn't happen the first time. A person doesn't go from loving, caring to murder in a split second. The mother knew what kind of monster was in her house and she didnt care. This is the best case scenario. Worst case, she physically was involved with the death. Either way, she had a hand in her child's death.

I agree with you, I also went on her page and there is a picture where she is I guess rubbing a little boys heads to put him to sleep but you really can't see him it's a selfie of herself. Checking out her Facebook page she is really seeking that attention. My question is how can someone hurt your child that bad while you are in the same house but you don't hear a thing. Sorry as a mother I hear my kids especially during bed time, tv gets turned down even in my room, and I listen to make sure they are not up playing or getting into things. So again how do you be in the same home and not hear someone slamming your child around.
