Former Sarcoxie teacher posts bond, arraignment set on felony charge of having sex with a student

Former Sarcoxie High School  English teacher Baylee Turner, 23, Carthage, is free after posting $10,000 bond Friday, according to online Jasper County Circuit Court records.

Turner was charged earlier this week with the felony of having sex with a student. The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office has indicated more charges may be filed.

Turner, who was in her third year with the district, resigned Sunday, Sarcoxie R-2 Superintendent Kevin Goddard told media. The R-2 Board of Education accepted the resignation Monday and is seeking to have Turner's teaching license revoked.

The probable cause statement says Turner admitted to having sex with a student at her home sometime between January 14 and January 21. Court records do not indicate the student's age.

Turner's arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, before Judge Joseph Hensley.
