Richard says he represents all Missourians

Rep. Ron Richard, R-Joplin, bristles at the idea that he is simply a southwest Missouri legislator. In an article in today's Columbia Daily Tribune, Richard says he intends to represent all Missourians:

"That is absolute BS," Richard said last week when asked whether his effort to succeed House Speaker Rod Jetton cemented southwest Missouri’s dominance of Missouri politics. "Let me tell you something: I've worked with the entire state of Missouri since I've been elected. And anybody who wants to say that I'm regional can just leave the building."

Regardless, the three-term Republican lawmaker’s likely ascension to one of the most powerful legislative posts in the state is part of an intriguing shift to the southwest in state politics.

Sen. Gary Nodler, R-Joplin, was recently named chairman of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee, while Sen. Jack Goodman, R-Mount Vernon, was elected assistant majority leader last week.

The article continues:

Richard said his tenure will be "for everybody."

"I can be for St. Louis, I can be for Sikeston and I can be for Maryville," he said
.

This guy is such a douche that Summers Eve is using him as a model for future product development.

He'll work for all Missourians who own bowling alleys, at least.

Randy, When you leave up a comment like this one about Summers Eve it reflects upon you, and you are just as responsible for leaving it up as the idiot that posted it. There is no place in civil discourse for that kind of comment!

Randy HAS to leave up the "summer's eve" comment. This is true discourse, albeit unsightly sometimes, but by having un-censored comments Randy's blog stays truthful. If he took down the "summer's eve" comment because it was offensive or because you felt it was offensive, what other comments would he take down also?
Comments keep the press free.

To busplunge: This comment makes this blog trash and nothing more and it is the opposite of true discourse it is gutter sniping, nothing more. Removing inappropriate material in the way the newspapers and broadcasters do protects true discourse from this sort of destruction. Randy prefers to swim in the mud.

Integrity, journalistic integrity. Freedom of the press, academic freedom, freedom of expression.
Who decides if a comment is inappropriate? You? Me? Randy? I don't particularily agree with the "Summer's Eve" comment, but the author has as much right to post it as you and I do our comments.

I have removed numerous comments when they used profane language. However, as inappropriate as the remark was (and it was inappropriate), it did not stoop as low as the ones which I have removed.

Randy, Its too bad that you prove your standards are so low!

Back to the issue.....Richard is out of touch with most of Missourians. He does not live amoung them and he definitely does not mix among them. He is typical for a politician, what do we expect with our current system?

If the last anonymous reader is so offended by this blog, I encourage him to find another blog to comment on, so that his sensibilities will not be offended. I would guess you will find that most blogs that allow comments have far worse on them than what I allow. One thing I have always done is to allow people to criticize me, you have done so, and you may continue to do so, but since I don't plan on removing the original comment (or your comments either, for that matter), your further posts on the subject will be a waste of your time and mine.

Randy, all comments on here are a waste of time...so what?
