Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen fails Joplin Health Department inspection


Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen, 2130 S. Range Line Road failed its Joplin Health Department inspection today, according to information posted on the department website.

The inspection noted one priority violation, one administrative violation and three core violations.







The priority violation was for sewage backing up through floor drains in the kitchen, while the administrative violation was for continuing to operate while an immediate health hazard (the sewage backup and failed to notify the Health Department.

Corrections were made while the Health Department was there, according to the report, with all sewage in the building going through an approved system. All impacted food items were thrown out and food preparation stopped while floors were cleaned and disinfected. After the work was done, Popeye's was allowed to reopen.

The following core violations were noted:

-The walk-in freezer door was obstructed and couldn't close.

-The walk-in freezer had heavy ice accmulations.

-The floor beneath the fryers was worn exposing concrete.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, 631 S. Range Line Road

Subway, 2914 E. 32nd Street

Joplin Mini Mart, 1210 E. 15th Street

Nothing Bundt Cake, 2401 E. 32nd Street

I’ve never understood why sanitary sewer and what I would call process waste/ floor drains sinks etc are tied together, seems like a no brainer to keep them separate and minimize future problems

Where else could these drains be connected?

As far as I know the plumbing codes are rather specific, a building's drains are to be connected to the sewer (septic) system.
