Ace Mohr freed on his own recognizance, ordered to have no contact with alleged victim

Ace Mohr's $30,000 cash-only bond turned into no cash at all as the Carthage man, who is charged with felony domestic assault while on probation for multiple felonies, was released on his own recognizance during an October 4 hearing in Jasper County Circuit Court.

Judge Joseph Hensley ordered Mohr to have no contact with his alleged victim and that any custody exchanges would have to take place through a third party.

Earlier Judge David Mouton had suspended Mohr's probation, but did not revoke it. Another probation violation hearing has been scheduled for 1 p.m. October 29, the same day his arraignment is scheduled in trial court.

Mouton sentenced Mohr to five years in prison March 5, then suspended the sentence and placed him on probation for five years after Mohr pleaded guilty to felony charges of receiving stolen property and possession of heroin with intent to distribute.

As part of his plea agreement, multiple felony charges, including possession of methamphetamine and cocaine, were dropped.

The Carthage Police Department arrested Mohr August 18. mThe probable cause statement says Mohr "pushed (the victim's) face into a wall causing (the victim's) upper lip to break and bleeding to occur.

"Ace then locked (the victim) in the bathroom, taunting (the victim) to kill (redacted). He then shoved (the victim's) face into broken glass on the floor causing a laceration on the forehead and serious bleeding to occur."

The victim was able to break away from Mohr, according to the statement and 911 was contacted.

Judge Hensley will chew his arm off before changing a cash only bond to surety---he would rather let the suspect go free

Remember these actions at election time. There is a space limitation at holding facilities but they are putting all of us at risk

Ridiculous to allow a violent felon, who violated probabtion, out of jail, especially OR.
He should have been shipped off to serve his sentence.
Major Court Failure.

This guy is a one-man crime wave, and the judge turns him loose to commit more mayhem. Bad result.

My guess would be that he was willing to give information up on someone they really want to get behind bars. But then what do I know, I am from Calif where our chief idiots let everybody out without bond.

He did all this and not only is he out but he still gets to take the kids!? Our court system is a joke. Remember the names of these judges when it is time to vote again. We all need to rise up and demand justice.

We will hear of Ace again. Our local law enforcement is tired of seeing these bad pennies show back up. There will be another incident. When the next incident happens it is on the judge.
