A bond investigation report filed September 21 in Jasper County Circuit Court recommends that Ace Mohr, 25, Carthage, not be considered for inclusion in a pre-trial release program because he is "high risk."
The report noted that Mohr, who has been held in the Jasper County Jail on a $30,000 cash-only bond on a felony domestic assault charge since August 18 has an "extensive" prior record and that he is high risk "due to concerns he will be accused and arrested on other criminal violations if released from confinement."
It is easy to understand why that conclusion was reached.
"Subject has three pending causes in Jasper County for probation violations. Subject was arrested while on probation in violation of his conditions."
Mohr's preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in Judge Joseph Hensley's courtroom.
The Carthage Police Department arrested Mohr less than six months after Mohr had been placed on probation for multiple felonies.
The probable cuase statement says Mohr "pushed (the victim's) face into a wall causing (the victim's) upper lip to break and bleeding to occur.
"Ace then locked (the victim) in the bathroom, taunting (the victim) to kill (redacted). He then shoved (the victim's) face into broken glass on the floor causing a laceration on the forehead and serious bleeding to occur."
The victim was able to break away from Mohr, according to the statement and 911 was contacted.
On March 5, Judge David Mouton sentenced Mohr to five years in prison, then suspended the sentence and placed him on probation for five years on charges of receiving stolen property and possession of heroin with intent to distribute. As part of his plea agreement, multiple felony charges, including possession of methamphetamine and cocaine, were dropped.
