A Stella man with previous DWI convictions pleaded not guilty on DWI and fleeing charges during his initial appearance today in McDonald County Circuit Court. Both charges are felonies.
Bond for Zachary S. Dillow (DOB 1992) is set at $2,500 cash only. A bond review hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. October 8.
Dillow led a McDonald County Sheriff's Office deputy on a pursuit that went into Newton County, according to the probable cause statement.
The deputy began pursuing Dillow after the vehicle he was driving began swerving near the Rocky Comfort School.
From the probable cause statement:
During the pursuit Zachary was observed throwing multiple bottles of alcohol "shooters" from thevehicle, while swerving all over the roadway with a disregard for public safety. Zachary was also observed hitting a hatchet on the side of his vehicle, while fleeing from Law Enforcement.
At one point Zachary opened his driver side door and continued to flee from Law Enforcement. Zachary nearly struck multiple vehicles driving on the roadway.
I continued to pursue Zachary throughout various roads in McDonald County and Newton County.
While pursuing Zachary in Newton County, Zachary struck a Missouri State Highway Patrol vehicle. The pursuit came to an end when Zachary lost a tire to the vehicle and ended up stopping at the United Methodist Church located in Stella, Mo.
While placing Zachary into custody, Zachary began pulling away from Law Enforcement and began resisting arrest. I could smell the odor of intoxicants coming from or near Zachary's person. I observed a partially opened 99 Vodka "Shooter" sitting on the ground near the vehicle. SFST's were not done on Zachary due to him actively resisting arrest.
Cpl. Kelley transported Zachary to the McDonald County Jail where Zachary continued to resist Law Enforcement and was placed in the restraint chair at the McDonald County Detention Center.
According to the complaint, Dillow was found guilty of driving while intoxicated February 4, 2015 and December 4, 2011 in Newton County Circuit Court and September 8, 2011 in Granby Municipal Court.
