Joplin City Council to hear comments on Police Department, Fire Department pay issues Monday

A shortage of Joplin Police Department officers that led to the elimination of some services, as well as pay issues for the police and fire departments will be among the main topics when the Joplin City Council meets 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall.

Seven speakers have lined up to address JPD cuts, low pay and a perceived Council emphasis on entertainment over public safety.

In reading this, it appears the finance director has issues with the police and fire asking for better pay to keep their ranks from leaving. It would appear the honored glory hole of a golf course goes untouched yet again. When will they realize that by making further cuts in the police department, It is the citizens that suffer. Perhaps that is why they are speaking.
Interesting how they talk about cuts made in the finance dept. That position was the guy that was enforcing parking control downtown. He worked out of the police department but the funds went strait to finance. Please confirm this, do not take my word for it.
they call for the removal of take home cars. for police officers. It was those police officers that dropped everything on Christmas Eve to respond to that killing on Byers, not the finance director who has a car stipend. How many times has she came in on Christmas eve.

If you want to make cuts, how about the city quit working on the Carl Junctions police radios. I see Joplin cars sitting outside to be worked on while Carl junction cars get ASAP treatment (yea the fiance directors husband is the chief over there in CJ, you might remember him, he is friends with that attorney. He himself went to the media and cleared that attorney friends daughter in that terrible murder case over there).

I don’t read this blog. I was told about this comment by a “friend” who believes it was written by a JPD member. The unnamed friend works there.

Mr “anonymous”, you don’t get a free pass here. You are printing 1/2 truths and downright mistruths.

At least have the guts to print your name. If you want to question my integrity, come do it in front of me and I’ll tell you the truth. I somehow don’t think you have the gumption to do that as it easier to hide behind anonymous. I’d be glad to explain it to you.
