Joplin Schools seeking administrative assistant for Tina Smith

Whether it is replacing someone who is leaving or adding a new position, it really does not matter; it's still another person among the legions who work at the Joplin R-8 Administration Building at 32nd and Duquesne.

The following advertisement was placed for an administrative assistant for the district's human resources director Tina Smith. The strange thing- it sounds like they are looking for someone who has far more qualifications than Ms. Smith.

I wish I could be there to record these interviews. (Just kidding.)


Position:                     Administrative Assistant for Human Resources

Classification:            Classified

Location:                    Administration Building

Qualifications:             Bachelor's degree preferred;
                                    3-5 years related experience and/or training
                                    in Human Resources preferred;
                                    Equivalent combination of education and experience

Reports to:                  Director of Human Resources

The Administrative Assistant contributes to the accomplishment of Human Resource services and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes quality, productivity, high standards, and the ongoing recruitment and retention of a superior workforce.

Essential Functions:
  • Process, verify, and maintain personnel related documentation, including staffing, recruitment, training, and performance evaluations for classified staff.
  • Conduct verification of all relevant applicant credentials, including  work eligibility.
  • Explain district personnel policies, services, procedures, and other essential information to employees or job applicants by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Record and maintain data for each employee as required in personnel information system.
  • Process Employment Verification requests as directed and in accordance with Board Policy.
  • Compile and prepare reports and documents as directed.
  • Provide day-to-day general administrative support for all human resource activities.
  • Keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to job.
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned.

  • Occasional Lifting up to 25 pounds
  • The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability.  

Attendance
Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.

Sounds like Tina is being phased out...good, she is a mean hearted person...would like to see her gone, too!

When has she had to carry anything 25 lbs. ...those physical requirements make no sense at all...vision requirements? Give me a break! She wants
Superman as her assistant...the ability to stare down the souls of those she has hurt & offended & embarrassed ....good bye tiny Tina...karma

Maybe we better start sending empty boxes to JSAB. Looks like a lot of packing might be happening soon. But never soon enough.

Let's make sure there is a personal escort out of the building for each one of them too. They'll feel just as special as the rest of us did when it was our turn. I'd hate for them to miss out on those feelings of humiliation and degradation. They'll always have that special memory.
