Obamas: Your children need Common Core, our children don't

Those who have read the Turner Report over the last several months know that I have three major reasons for opposing Common Core Standards:

1. The increasing number of standardized tests that will go along with the implementation of Common Core

2. The U. S. Department of Education is bribing state governments to go along with Common Core, and other reforms that include basing teacher evaluation on standardized test scores and privatizing education

3. Teachers played almost no part in creating Common Core Standards. Instead, the people at the table included representatives of technology companies, test companies, textbook companies, and once again, those whose entire idea of education centers around privatization and charter schools.

If you have read this blog long enough, you also know that I have written several times that the education policy of the Obama Administration is just as bad as that of George W. Bush's administration.

I don't know what kind of schools President Bush's daughters would have attended had they been of school age when he was in the White House, but President Obama has made certain that his daughters are in a school that has not implemented Common Core Standards and will not be implementing them.

Why does President Obama believe Common Core is right for everyone else's children, but not for his?

JImmy Carter tried to send his daughter to a regular public school Secret Service would not allow it .. How do you know the standards of the school they go to. . the main factor in deciding for the school of the presidents children is safety for his children.

As Jimmy Carter tried to send Amy to public school, " Amy Carter attended Washington, DC, public schools, including Stevens Elementary School and Hardy Middle School. However, Carter struggled to make friends at the schools she attended, and she was not allowed outside for recess because the school's playground was too near the street." The major deciding factor of where the presidents children go to school is where they can be kept safe. As for the school they go to what are the standards and where did you find your information on them.

The federal government was not involved in the development of the common core standards. This has always been, and continues to be, a state-led and driven initiative. States voluntarily adopted and are currently implementing the standards on an individual basis. These standards are in no way federally-mandated. I find it so adorable how you subtly imply Obama is responsible for the common core standards. Btw the CCS has not increased the data reporting requirements for school districts. Mo schools have been collecting and reporting data since 1989.

Sorry, you may be technically correct, but the Obama Administration has pushed Common Core Standards through the use of its Race to the Top grants. I never implied that Obama was responsible for them and I really don't care what you find adorable. As for the nonsense in the comment above about the school where Obama's children attend classes, I should note that it was the president himself, during his speech on education talked about the fact that the school that his daughters attend does not teach to the rest. That can only happen when you do not have to follow the rules that the president and Arne Duncan are forcing on public schools.
