Judge Crane recuses herself from Jalen Vaden murder case

For the second time in two weeks, a Jasper County judge has recused from the Jalen Vaden murder case.

Judge Gayle Crane, who was just assigned to the case last week, recused herself today, according to Jasper County Circuit Court online records.

The case has been sent to the presiding judge for reassignment and it is looking more and more likely that it may be handled by an out-of-county judge.

As with Judge David Mouton's recusal, no documents accompanied Crane's recusal, just a notation in the file.

Vaden, 23, Carl Junction, is charged with second degree murder and felony child abuse in connection with the December 1, 2017 death of three-year-old Jayda Kyle. The child died at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City three days after she was hospitalized due to abuse that took place at her home at 405 Meadow Lake, Carl Junction.

It remains to be seen if the changes in judge will have any effect on the scheduled trial date of April 15, 2019.

The case needs to be tried as far north or even down in the boot hill area. Too many people know each other and have their own opinions about this case. The trial will not be fair to anyone involved in this area!!

Hmm! Does this have anything to do with Judd!

It's humorous, how everyone thinks this proves Devyn's guilt, ignorance at it's finest. Obviously the judges know Judd , he's a freaking attorney who tries cases in front of these judges, anyone ever stopped to think , these judges are doing Jalen , you know the one who murdered Jayda, a big favor by recusing their selves. #JusticeForJayda

Funny how you assume Jalen is the one who murdered Jayda. Assumptions work both ways.

Dankelson refused to recuse himself, so Jalen's attorney had to use her ability to have him removed from the case. I'm still trying to figure out why Mouton didn't IMMEDIATELY recuse himself when he knew it was a conflict of interest as soon as it was put before him?? Judge Crane is the only one who immediately did the right thing! #GoodOleBoysClub

Really, is this why she has presided over the entire juvenile proceeding? She can hear that, but not the murder trial? Sounds like she wants off the radar as well.
