The sixth DWI charge came following an August 31 traffic stop at Madison and 16th in Webb City, in which Robinette, 56, tried to run from the police, failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a vehicle at Fountain and Lakeview, then continued to Fountain and Main where he struck another car that was stopped in traffic, according to the probable cause statement.
The arresting officer found that Robinette had "a strong odor of intoxicants," as well as three open vodka bottles.
Robinette was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, driving while revoked, felony resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and first degree property damage.
Jasper County Circuit Court records show that Robinette was awaiting trial on his fifth DWI, which came as a result of another Webb City Police Department arrest May 6. After that arrest, Robinette was behind bars on a $10,000 cash or surety and $1,000 cash bond. Judge John Nicholas reduced the bond to $5,000 cash or surety and Robinette was released June 5.
A September 18 arraignment is scheduled in that case.
Judge Nicholas set Robinette's bond on his latest charge is set at $1,500 cash plus $7,500 surety.

This is what is wrong with our area. Hey judges of Jasper county, do you not realize that your children are on the streets with these people too? When you let these people off with nothing but a slap on the wrist, you aren't just endangering the lives of us little people but you are endangering the lives of your own families as well. Doesn't that ever occur to you? MADD is going to be watching this one more closely from here on out.
One has to wonder why any judge would be lenient rather than irate when it comes to drunk driving. Again and again, drunk drivers in Jasper and Newton counties are put back on the streets after multiple arrests, convictions, or plea deals. It's a revolving door, and it puts all of us and our families in danger. Does anybody actually serve time in our area for driving drunk, over and over? If not, why not?
A friend got caught in Overland Park, KS and for his first offense had to install that breathanalyzer on his vehicle at a cost of $500 per month. Why not one of these and as before stop letting them out. The judge should be disbarred for his actions. Dumbasses

Couldn't agree more. My boyfriend was the bystander who got hit on Fountain and Main.
I saw a guy get only 10 days in county jail for 3 DWIs. He told the judge that he couldn't do any more time or he would lose his job, the judge actually asked him if 10 days was okay! I was completely astounded. If I hadn't heard it with my own ears I wouldn't believe it. If you really want to make a difference in this area see about joining Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
