Cynthia Davis: State of the Union move damaged Nancy Pelosi's reputation and the Democratic Party

(From former Rep. Cynthia Davis, R-O'Fallon)

The Speaker of the National House of Representatives could have opened up the government any time after she was sworn in as Speaker. That might have been a smart move.

This was unprecedented to rescind an invitation to host the State of the Union Address. It is sad that they are willing to pick a fight this small against the others who don't share her political agenda.

However, many Democrats do not share her agenda. There are a lot of good, hard working Democrats who want the wall built and our country protected. The idea of protecting our borders is shared by many people --- including many Democrats. Some of the labor workers are looking forward to bidding on these contracts and actually building the wall. Some Democrats wonder why we're even fighting over this.

Why isn't our agenda the same? How about a common goal like protecting our Country?

Does anyone really care where the speech is delivered? Most of the people watch the State of the Union address remotely anyway, so it may not matter if the speaker is being foolish about holding the House Chamber as a hostage.

This is not her chamber! This is the people's chamber! It does not belong to the Democrat Party --- It belongs to all Americans! Just because she has a majority of her members who are willing to vote for whatever procedural vote she wants, doesn't mean it is a proper use of her power. Nobody has the right to use "the people's house" to be vindictive.

At the end of the day, I believe the Speaker did more harm to herself, her reputation and the reputation of the Democrat Party than what can be measured.

Dear Cynthia,
Read an American history book. It's the Democratic party.

Randy, why do you continue to publish the drivel this woman spouts? She thankfully no longer has any influence in our lives.

Another republican spin to detract from the truth and enforce the demented party holding the Senate and WH hostage. This woman believes someone pays attention to her and the spoon fed propaganda coming from her lips. She is a disgrace to women who work, have families and stand up for those in need. Shameful

536, brilliant. Tell us more.

What’s shameful? Nancy Pelosi does not own the capital ( she confuses herself into thinking so)

Read US Constitution, Article 2 for Presidential powers, including one of the four officials with the right to walk o to the House well.

Harvey,

Were you asleep the last two weeks? Did you not see Trump hang his head in shame and concede that Pelosi was right? To address the nation for the State of the Union in the House of Representatives requires a joint resolution be passed. Speaker Pelosi told the chump Trump that he would not be allowed to do so until he reopened the government, so naturally he acted like a good boy, did what he was told, and reopened the government. These are facts, unlike your assertion that Trump can go to the House well and do it himself.

Even Republican legislators don’t want another shutdown, and if the little peckerwood wants to declare an emergency, then the courts will stop that idiotic notion. The national intelligence assessment just delivered by 17 intelligence agencies made no mention of a crisis or threat at our southern border. If you trust Trump over his intelligence agencies that are sworn to the constitution, then you are not intelligent.

Mi Kehunt, tell us why the Democrats flipped on wanting a barrier. Surely they just weren't playing politics were they, my little pink friend? I am sure that their part in keeping the government shutdown for 35 days was all about being fiscally responsible, right fuzz patch? And as far as trusting the President over intelligence agencies, I am going to shave you clean with three letters from the past... W.M.D. Remember those letters, my moist little buddy? Yep, a President listened to his intelligence agencies and the world is still recovering. So it seems some axe wound in SW Missouri wants to act like they know more than a sitting President and they use believing the intelligence agencies as proof of their intelligence, well that just seems dumb. But don't feel too bad, George W. Bush (remember what a horrible President he was?) trusted those people too, Honey Pot.

@ 5;25

You seemed obsessed with something you’ve probably never seen, and failed to do a take on Georgies Bush. The war in Iraq was an effort by a Dick Cheney to enrich Halliburton, a company rhat made him rich, after he told Georgie that Saddam wanted to kill his daddy. I agree Bush was a terrible president, that was lucky he never went hunting with Dick. Apparently, you and Harvey are sleeping together, and missed the drug bust yesterday at Port Nogales, Arizona, where 650 pounds of Fentanyl and methamphetamine were seized at a manned border crossing where there were barriers galore. Pretty much proves your barrier, wall, steel slats, or whatever you call it now is not working. Dogs made this bust, so let the dogs out if you will or develop technology to assist in these seizures, but you can’t blame it on a damn wall. You do understand not even when Chump had control of the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives that there was no wall built, and there won’t be now while Nancy Pelosi is slapping Chump around. The way you disparage your birthplace leads me to think Nancy might need to slap you around as well.

Listen, Sugar Shack, if there was a Dick Cheney then manipulating intelligence what makes you so sure there isn't one now? My point being (thanks for proving it with the Cheney story, Bijingo) is that intelligence agencies are not foolproof. My dear sweet Minge, you then go on to tell us all about a huge drug bust made at a Port of entry. Fantastic! Good for us! You even tell us there were "barriers galore" and drug dogs made the bust. So you admit, Minge, that barriers played a part in the stop? If that wasn't your point, Front Bottom, then let's talk about the drugs that came across that weren't seized. Oh, we can't because we don't know where the crossed over. But that's ok because the never wrong intelligence agencies say everything goes through ports, right Muff? Thanks for clearing things up for us, Clunge.

By the way, Mi Kehunt, do you lock your doors at night? If so, why?

Randy, the name that 1:06 and 7:20 is using is ridiculous. What is this, junior high? And the person riffing on it by calling names doesn't help. Both need to grow up.

Can't wait to read Harry Beaver's thoughts on this...
