Joplin man, woman charged with assaulting older woman, allegedly took away her oxygen tank, threatened to drown her at Grand Falls

(Note: This post has been changed to reflect two people were charged in connection with this case, not one.)

A Joplin man and woman are being held in the Jasper County Jail after being charged with domestic assault.

The arraignments for Tyrone Davis Ridge (DOB 1976) and Deanna M. Edwards (DOB 1984) are scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Wednesday in Jasper County Circuit Court in Joplin.

Ridge is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond, while Edwards' bond is set at $25,000 cash or surety.

According to the probable cause statement, a 60-year-old woman told a Joplin police officer Ridge and Edwards were making her give him all of her Social Security and disability income.

If she does not, Tyrone withholds food, clothing and {her} oxygen tank from her. She is not allowed to have visitors. In a past incident when she did have visitors, Tyrone flung the bedroom door open and assaulted her visitor.

{She} is extremely fearful of Tyrone to the point of uncontrollable shaking.

(Note: the same allegation about withholding food, clothing and her oxygen tank was made against Edwards in her probable cause statement.

The woman told the police she would leave Ridge and Edwards, but she does not have control of her money. She claimed they assaulted her.

He has grabbed her hard enough to cause bruising, has shoved her causing her to hit her head on a door and leave a bump (I was able to feel it) and has threatened to kill {her} if she talks to authorities about child abuse or drug-related happenings inside the home.

After a DHSS employee left on the 16th, Tyrone took her oxygen machine from her as punishment.

In the recent past, {she} has overheard plans between Tyrone and his cousin to drown her at the Falls and plant a fake ID on her person.

Tyrone Davis Ridge and Deanna M. Edwards - if the allegations are True - Are Worthless Human Beings to do this to an Elderly person - and should receive the Harshest and Strictest Punishment that our Courts can dole out to them, hopefully never to see the outside of prison again.

That is why we need Tough Judges, Prosecuting Attorneys, and Jurors - so these Criminals can never Commit another Crime against anyone in our Society.

To Bad that we could not give them some Frontier Justice - -

I know deanna and she is not a very good mom if we are being honest. She is very lazy and her man is nothing but trouble. She has no control of her son and lets him do whatever.

Oh my. So because Dhss was there she was punished? She gave no reason for the punishment.. And if they have control over her money then how could they possibly withhold food clothing and her oxygen tank for not giving them her money?? She did state that she had no control over her money didn't she? So if that's true then she couldn't make the decision not to give them money therefore there would be no reason for her to be "punished". As for the plot to drown her at the falls and ant a fake id on her. Come on now everyone knows that the police go through an extensive identification process when a body is found. They don't just look at the id and say ok this is so and so better notify next of kin . Does anyone know the accuser? Do we know if she has any type of background use or current use of drugs? Maybe she wasn't allowed to use in their home does she have a history of mental health problem?. And yes someone may not be the best parent but does that mean they are capable of this type of abuse?! There are 2 sides to everything.
