I had to share this, because it is an opinion that differs greatly from what I have written, but one that should be heard nonetheless. I await your comments.
We will just now see what the true capabilities the iPads can have now that East is back.
I was there tonight and I cannot believe what I saw. Think of the standard school building - the hallways, the classrooms, the layout...basically every school follows the same blueprint. Now if you rip that to shreds and decide to start from scratch and design a school with the main goal being to create opportunities for students to grow, learn, collaborate and build skills necessary in today's world and voila EAST!!!
It is so awesome.
Two and a half years in the dog food district was worth the reward of going to the best middle school not only in Joplin but one of the nest in the country. The teachers are fabulous and they care about the kids.
Being forced to go to school at the warehouse changed the dynamics of the kids at East. I hear about the bullying that goes on at South and North and I am so glad things worked out like they did for my daughter.
Guess there was a silver lining in that tornado. I wish you wouldn't have shown the blatant disrespect you had for your bosses so that you could be there, too, Turner. I think you would have been able to do your best teaching in this new environment at East.

I was there too. And I hate to say it but I agree. That school is fantastic. And they say the high school will be even more amazing than east. I have agreed with you on everything you have been posting because I felt like the taxpayers were getting gouged but seeing this school makes me think I was wrong. Doubters need to go see it. Of course I would be so p*ssed off if my kid didn't get to go there! But I didn't hear anyone caring that these kids have been in a warehouse so the knife cuts both ways. EAST IS BEAST!!
