McCaskill: Dreamers need to stay- period

(From Sen. Claire McCaskill)

I want to be very clear about what President Trump's decision to get rid of DACA really means: It means 800,000 young Americans who were brought to this country through no fault of their own would be kicked out of the only home many of them have ever known. We would lose nearly a million students, workers and servicewomen and men who contribute to our country in so many ways.

The Trump administration's announcement today to rescind DACA is not a solution to immigration issues in America. Instead, it plays politics with the lives of hundreds of thousands of children and young people. It is as heartless as it is counterproductive.

Dreamers deserve to stay. Period. And I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure that Congress protects them.

I truly feel sorry for them and all Americans if congress carries through with no action on this matter. We are a nation of immigrants except for the American Indian and even they probably came across the Bering Strait back before man existed according to fundamentalist "Christians". After all it is written, but of course the Chinese had writings long before the bible and we all know it is fake news that they invented many of our sacred objects, gun powder.
These people like the Vietnamese have excelled when attending good schools and thanks to them they are working in our labs finding new cures because man has overpopulated the earth. It basically stems from jealously of good white folk that they are not what their ancestors were, hard working, honest and dedicated to their own ethnic background. We are the race of jealous little people who cannot achieve anything of substance without our lessor kind. Amazing what bigotry has done to a body of people who have little claim to fame other than pillaging the resources of other countries in the third world.
Let these people expand, grow educationally and benefit your pitiful white butts and be thankful we have them and their culture to enrich ours.

Then do your job and solve the problem. This isn't Trump's fault.

This isn't Trumps fault. Obama knew his Executive order was not constitutional that's why DACA (deferred) should of never existed in the first place. Obama said himself that he wasn't a king but with his Executive order for DACA he did nothing more than circumvent our congress and constitution... How about Claire lay the blame where it belongs, with the parents who willingly broke the law when they brought children here illegally.... Rather you like it or not we are a nation of laws and immigration like anything else needs to be enforced.

Anonymous 1:57 you are 1000% correct
Evildoer McCaskill is 1000% WRONG!!!

No President--Obama nor Trump nor George Washington has the authority to break the law with an unconstitutional program like DACA, President Trump gave them 6 months of grace; it is Congress authority and responsibility, and time for them to do their job!

Wait just a minute there Mr. Hervey!

If [no president] has the has the authority to break the law with an unconstitutional program like DACA, then under what authority does President Trump grant the DACA filers six months of grace?

I mean, no one in their right mind thinks the 'Great Orange Foolius' is any kind of legal expert, as a matter of fact I bet he's never ever even stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. So how does he have authority to grant the six month standstill?

Harvey Hutchinson said...

He actually does not; but he structured the cease order with a 6 month grace period( he really is compassionate){ia strict interpretation that is law breaking} and it give Congress( who does have the authority and responsibility to pass something fair to all concerned, AND secure the border with a wall,
Then from a practical standpoint the actual disposition of the 800 thousand dreamers can be seamlessly.
Make sense ? For law & order, and for turning the other cheek to those directly affected

WHAT A LOAD OF NONSENSE!

The way the tRUMP Maladministration is I bet you could get a job writing legal briefs for Jeff Sessions.

Your sentence structure might even allow you to ghostwrite twits for the chief twatterer.

if they have been here for several years, and are so smart, and love it here, then why have they never applied for citizenship?

7:59 seems to be having trouble getting over Hillary's loss... Obama was a lousy POTOS acting like a dictator for his 8 years in office... again DACA was never legal in the first place, congress can do immigration reform or the 800 thousand can go back to their country of origin... let that be a lesson to those who wish to break our immigration laws in the future..

@ 4:26 AM

Because under most circumstances those with DACA can't even apply for a green card much less citizenship.

"The Facts

DACA was intended to let “dreamers” — children of illegal immigrants who, in many cases, knew no other home than the United States — avoid deportation and get work permits that are renewed every two years. About 800,000 people are participating in the DACA program.

But that does not necessarily mean they are stuck in DACA forever. If a DACA participant marries a U.S. citizen, for instance, he or she could seek to obtain status as a lawful permanent resident, more popularly known as a green card. There are other routes to obtaining a green card, such as being a victim of a crime and helping police, being a battered spouse or a victim of human trafficking, and so forth. Green-card recipients are eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship after five years.

Marrying a U.S. citizen does have a procedural hurdle for a green card — you have show you entered the country legally."
