Felon who fired shots at Joplin police officers pleads guilty to federal weapons charge

A Burlingame, Kansas man who shot at Joplin police officers February 24, 2023 when they were investigating him for another shooting pleaded guilty this morning in U. S. District Court in Springfield to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Judge David P. Rush ordered a pre-sentence investigation for Adam Everett Kastler, 36. No date has been scheduled for sentencing.

Kastler's crimes were described in the plea agreement.

Joplin police officers learned Kastler was being picked up in a white Chevy Tahoe at 8th and St. Louis and was armed. They pulled the vehicle over, told the two people in the car to get out. The driver, later identified as Joshua Thompson, got out of the car; Kastler did not.

Kastler revved up the engine, then drove away at a high rate of speed. The chase went into Kansas where Kastler eventually crashed the car.

The Joplin Police Department news release following the incident says Kastler, who was a suspect in a February 7, 2023 shooting at 909 S. Monroe that sent a Joplin man to the hospital, fired shots at Joplin police officers from the vehicle during the pursuit.

Kastler had prior felony convictions for distributing opiates and aggravated battery.

Under the plea agreement, the government agreed not to file any more charges against Kastler in connection with the incident.

This loser is the end result of a extremist society factored on fear and narcissism. Look who leads the world in mass shootings with the leading cause of death to children being guns.
All sponsored and fully supported by your repugnant republican party. Kastler is just another loser in the lineage of mindless deplorables playing their part in our national psychosis. 924 occupies the same deplorable bucket of slime as the rest of the MAGAts. Take your distorted 2nd amendment beliefs and stick it where it don't shine.
