Hartzler to head Armed Services Subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations
Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (R – Mo.) last week was selected to chair the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations in the 114th Congress.
“I am extremely humbled to be selected by Chairman Thornberry to lead the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee in the 114th Congress,” Hartzler said. “I look forward to working with Chairman Thornberry as we work to make sure that our armed forces remain the best in the world. I have the privilege of representing the men and women of Whiteman Air Force Base and Fort Leonard Wood, and since being elected to Congress, I have made the wise use of taxpayer dollars and a strong national defense my top priorities. I am eager to continue this work by providing key oversight to the Department of Defense and our national security.”
“Vicky has been a proven leader on the Armed Services Committee since she first joined,” Chairman Thornberry added. “Her tireless passion for securing a strong national defense will provide valuable oversight to our armed forces and Department of Defense, shaping a much stronger, more effective force. The coming year will be demanding, but I am confident Vicky’s leadership will be a valuable asset to our leadership team.”
The Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee conducts studies and investigations across the jurisdiction of the House Armed Services Committee, including inquiries into allegations of waste, fraud, abuse, and wrongdoing and inefficiencies within the Department of Defense. Members and staff conduct comprehensive oversight studies of major programs and issues and produce reports for the Committee and DOD providing recommendations and improvements of these programs.
