Huff, commissioner candidates to be interviewed today

The process of choosing a new Missouri Commissioner of Education continues today with interviews of the five finalists in Jefferson City.

The meetings will be  held during a closed session of the State Board of Education.

Finalists for the position are Joplin R-8 Superintendent C. J. Huff, former Springfield Superintendent Norman Ridder, former Rockwood and Wentzville Superintendent Terry R. Adams, Branson Superintendent Douglas D. Hayter, and Deputy Commissioner of Education Margaret M. Vandeven.

The board announced the five finalists in a news release earlier this week:

Reportedly, the new commissioner could be chosen by the end of the week. The board has said the choice will be made by the end of the month. December 31 will be the last day for current Commissioner Chris Nicastro, who is retiring.

Superintendent of Joplin Schools is one thing, but do we really want Huff policies for the whole state?
