Light sleet, freezing rain expected in Joplin area Thursday night

(From the National Weather Service)

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF THE MISSOURI
OZARKS AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED...

  LIMITED EXCESSIVE COLD RISK.

DISCUSSION...

UNSEASONABLY COLD TEMPERATURES COMBINED WITH NORTHERLY WINDS
WILL PRODUCE WIND CHILL VALUES IN THE SINGLE DIGITS THROUGH
  THE OVERNIGHT HOURS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY.

CONTINUED COLD CONDITIONS WILL OCCUR THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT
WITH WIND CHILLS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AT TIMES.

A LIGHT MIX OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN AND LIGHT SLEET WILL BE
POSSIBLE FOR AREAS ACROSS EXTREME SOUTHERN MISSOURI THURSDAY
NIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING...MAINLY ALONG AND SOUTH OF THE
HIGHWAY 60 CORRIDOR. AMOUNTS WILL BE VERY LIGHT.

A STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING A WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION LATE
FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. PRECIP TYPES...AMOUNTS...AND TIMING
ARE STILL IN QUESTION BUT THE OVERALL FORECAST SUGGEST A
LIGHT WINTRY MIX TO CHANGE OVER TO LIGHT RAIN AND THEN BACK TO
A LIGHT WINTRY MIX OR LIGHT SNOW FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY. A
LIGHT ACCUMULATION OF WINTRY WEATHER WILL BE POSSIBLE ALONG AND
  NORTH OF I-44.
