No, I will not run Fox News nonsense on this blog

On Friday, I had the nerve to run a column by Fifth District Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, a Democrat, who said President Trump was holding federal workers hostage by his insistence on a border wall.

I have found that every time I post anything written by a Democrat or about a Democrat, people begin bombarding my personal Facebook page with attacks on my radical liberal left-wing blog.

Even though they usually have nothing to do with the post in question, invariably there are comments about Hillary Cltnton and Barack Obama, often accompanied by links to conspiracy theory sites alt-right articles.

I read one a few moments ago that grabbed my attention.

Hey Turner... Fox News has a bunch of news articles you can publish to if you want stop being one-sided. Or maybe Hannity or Rush. Or just continue feeding the left-wing propaganda. Your blog not mine

For a brief moment, I considered making a snappy sarcastic comeback, but it was obvious that the man who wrote the comment probably does not read the Turner Report and only scouts my Facebook page and maybe other Facebook pages searching for so-called "left-wing propaganda."

The Turner Report is the only left-wing propaganda blog that runs weekly columns from Billy Long, Jason Smith, Sam Graves and columns and news releases from Vicky Hartzler and Roy Blunt.

I certainly have the only radical left blog that runs columns by former State Representative Cynthia Davis.

I am the only leftist "fake news" media outlet that offers, unedited, the columns of Sen. Ed Emery, R-Lamar, as he offers his anti-public education views.

I offer their views. I usually don't agree with them.

Occasionally, I will write a separate post in which I offer my viewpoints on whatever issues these people might be addressing

I would like to think these critics read those posts and are so in awe of my ability to express myself and are worried that "right-wing" readers might be so captivated by my words that they fear people will begin a movement toward the left.

I would like to think that, but that is not the case. Sadly, my guess is most of the people commenting on my Facebook page are swayed only by the comments I make on Facebook and do not bother to click on the link to the Turner Report post.

Back to the comment suggesting I add Fox News articles and material from Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh to the Turner Report.

Fox News has some excellent journalists, but the work they do is obscured by people like Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham and Lou Dobbs who ignore the truth and make millions by doing so.

I run the columns and opinions of the people who receive taxpayer money because the public needs to know what they are thinking and how they are conducting themselves in office. I will run columns from people like Cynthia Davis, who was an elected official from Missouri.

Nearly every one of those people would be considered right-wing.

On the left side of the spectrum, I run Emanuel Cleaver's column. When she was in the state legislature, I published the columns of Rep. Stacey Newman, D-St. Louis.

I hope to find more columns from Democrats with a Missouri connection.

So about that suggestion of adding Fox News articles, thanks, but no thanks.

Best to convince 'em we need a moat instead of a wall down south somewheres, and that the tRUMP taxcuts have blown the wad- so they're needing volunteers! Bring yer own shovels and tape measures.

Randy,

I don’t know about banning Fox Network News, as Chris Wallace did say they stood with CNN when Trump tried to ban their coverage. So let’s look at what Chris also reported on the administration’ claims that terrorists were coming in through the southern border. Wallace reported those claims to be lies, and honestly reported on the many lies told by Trumpnoccio. The link is below:

Stick to your principles, Randy. Hell, I've gotten annoyed that you keep running right-wing nonsense by people not even representing Jasper and Newton counties. Your critics operate by a mentality that, if you're not 100% with them, you're against them. Don't play that game.

Oh give me a break. You running these articles written by Republican politicians is a not-so-veiled attempt to attract negative comments from your loyal lib drones. Please don't pretend it is anything else. Your copy and paste methodology simply provides clickbait for the left wing-masses. Know how to stir it up don't you?

Randy, it all depends on what audience you want to serve as to who you feature on here. If you consider this a Barton County blog, too, Ed Emery being here makes sense. Vicky Hartzler, too. It's really stretching it to have Emmanuel Cleaver, Samuel Graves and Jason Smith if this is strictly a SW MO blog. And I don't know what Cynthia Davis of O'Fallon is doing here except raising my blood pressure.

How about trading the outsiders for local voices in the MO legislature? They're Republicans, but at least, they have a connection to the area (and I'm counting on common sense from Lane Roberts if not Ben Baker). And your idea to add voices of the Dems is a good one.

Your critics (including me, in this case) have to realize it's your blog. If we don't like it, we can go away (please). And if we're really disgusted with it, we can start our own blogs.

This is my last word on the subject. I have resolved to spend less time debating with people I don't even know, and instead, try to make their heads explode. I have to prepare a vegan meal, open my home to Mexican illegals and ask Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to dance with me.

BOOM!

I like this blog because there is less nonsense. As I age, I am no longer a conservative and I think things through. What I see going on is that the conservatives are focusing on one thing, a wall. Little do they know that there will be other things that will happen while they are being such bloodhounds.

I’m 65 and the midterm elections I voted Democrat for the first time in my life. I wasn’t crazy about Trump but was willing to give him a chance. The way he and the Republicans in Congress have behaved totally turned me against them.

How did they behave that made you think Democrats were better?

A link for Randy's Fox News fans:

https://www.rawstory.com/2019/01/fox-news-viewers-literally-no-idea-bad-things-trump-historian/

"During the past two years in which Donald Trump has stumbled through his presidency, critics have been asking why so many Americans continue to back him despite mounting evidence of deeply flawed leadership. Often, these critics express contempt for the millions of Americans who constitute Trump’s “base.” They complain that Trump’s partisans are uniformed people who refuse to acknowledge that the president’s lying, ethical lapses, and failed policies are harming the nation. Trump remains in power, these critics argue, largely because starry-eyed followers ignore the facts.

These critics cast blame in the wrong place. Trump’s supporters, representing 38% of the electorate according to a recent poll, do not deserve all the censure that is directed at them. They did not create the pro-Trump narrative. They are its recipients. Conservative media have been especially influential in promoting optimistic judgments about Trump’s leadership. Fox News serves as command-central for the perspective. It draws a large audience. In October 2018, according the Nielson’s research, Fox racked up its 28thconsecutive month as the No. 1 basic cable news channel. Fox drew more viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined."

Look, I don't see how anyone can argue about biased in the media. Not everything Obama did was bad. Not everything he did was great. But listening to most media outlets all you heard was one end of the spectrum or the other. The same can be said about Trump. Posting links to a left leaning news site isn't evidence that Fox is biased and Trump is horrible. The evidence to those things come from actions.
Randy can post stories from wherever and from whomever he wants. He owns this blog. Sure his politics are as one sided as can be, but again, his blog. This site is at it's best when it focuses on local stories and stays out of politics. There are enough other outlets spewing out their sides political views. But again, it is Randy's blog to do with what he wants.

You can call it a left leaning news site, but do you understand they are quoting the top Fox Correspondent in his conversation with the administration’s top mouthpiece. You can also call up the interview and listen for yourself on Fox News. The president and his administration are lying about terrorists at the southern border, listen to Judge Napolitano on Fox, their legal expert accurately reporting Trump is an unidicted co-conspirator in a felony that his attorney went to jail over. No, not everything Obama did was bad, I mean their were no indictments in his administration, while Trump’s has already produced 33 by Mueller alone. There are currently 17 investigations ongoing in Trumpopia, there is zero comparison to Obama, black and white, if you will. It is most definitely Randy’s blog, commenters are free to state their case even if it as uniformed to facts.

I understand the post, thanks for asking. Do you understand that I don't care? There is no unbiased reporting. There is no uncorrupted politician. You can argue to what degree all you want, but the truth is the truth.

@ 5:45

Where do I start with such a ridiculous statement? If you mean biased as regarding American politics, then your claim is demonstrably false. National Public Radio, the Public Broadcasting System’s TV news, and the News Hour are required BY LAW to be unbiased, and they are. I challenge you to go through their news transcripts and show me any indication of bias. I expect not to hear from you on that, because you certainly can’t do so, or better minds than yours would have already done so. No uncorrupted politician? What an absurd blanket statement you made there. How can you know the intent of anyone other than your own? Yes, we’ve all heard Lord Acton’s quote that absolute power corrupts absolutely, but we are not from Acton’s land of monachary in England, this is the United States of America. When we witness corruption we have the ability to remove it from power, if recognized and acted upon.

Naivety is so cute, unless you are over the age of 12, 7:56.
Here is a chart showing the most unbiased news outlets. NPR is in fact fairly unbiased. Then again, it also lists NBC as unbiased, so take that NPR thing with a grain of salt.
I do think 5:45 is a bit over the top but anytime a human being is involved in anything there is biased. Reporters, judges, whatever. To what degree, it varies.
Politicians not corrupt? Vote them out of office? When you have senators becoming multimillionaires while in office for 20, 30 years or more then you can see voting people out doesn't always correct corruption.

I have watched several videos of Trump interviews from the past 20 or so years. He looks and sounds good in them. They’re nothing like the the man I see as President. My observations are not from the media spin. They’re from hearing words that come from his mouth or tweets he has posted. I don’t like how he does not hold Russia, North Korea or Saudi’s Arabia accountable for their actions. He practically defends them. Separating children from their parents was unforgivable. I don’t believe a word that comes out of his mouth. I’m not sure he has a conscience.

My problem with Republican politians is the way they have praised his great leadership and rallied behind him. That’s my short list.

I’ve never felt so many of my basic values violated by one political person in such a short span of time. I don’t understand how his die hard supporters think. What do they tell themselves to make it OK? I hear them vomit political jargon, but not thoughtful responses. I’m not saying Democrats are all that and a bag of chips. They’re just less offensive at this point in time.

1241, your post is one of the more reasonable posts I have seen on here in a while. I don't agree with you, but I understand you. Trump was the choice many people made because Hilary was not a good choice either. We were damned if you do, damned if you don't. Hell, Trump was a Democrat until recent years, yet Republicans and others voted for him. That is how bad Hilary was. Both parties are mess. The Republicans have no real leadership and the Democrats play politics too much. Right now the Democrats who just a few years ago were calling for stronger border security are refusing to negotiate funds for stronger border security. The government is shut down because they refuse to negotiate for something both sides have said they want. The only difference, Trump may get a win. That is politics at its worst. That is why Democrats aren't less offensive to me at this time.

I was trying to express behaviors, not politics, that has turned me away from Trump and the Republican Party. We can all debate till the cows come home the political differences. That’s what we Americans do. For me, the few things I mentioned go beyond politics and are just plain wrong and I can’t support it. Its not about immigration, the wall, government shutdown or one party obstructing the other.

With Nixon and Watergate or Clinton lying under oath and being a horn dog, it was essentially one general area of contention. (Morally speaking) Trump has several issues and in a short amount of time. The children being separated from parents was unconscionable to me and the last straw. I do not believe anyone with one ounce of moral fiber could do that. In fact, if I recall correctly, Timothy McVeigh used the term “collateral damage” in addressing the innocent bystanders, including children, he murdered to make a stand. I suspect that’s how Trump justified in his mind using those children as pawns to prove a point.

Anonymous said...

8:28, I hear you. Both political sides have produced their fair share of morally bankrupt people. The separating of families is as horrible now as it was when Obama did it. I just happen to think using people as political pawns is disgusting on both sides.
Peace.

@ 8:28

This is 5:16. I’ll respond with agreement, and point out the idiot at 12:19’s reasoning against voting corrupt politicians out of office. If you vote them out, then they’re not there for 20-30 years becoming multi-millionaires. It astounds me that voters rejected the right to work law by over 60% of the vote, yet our state senator,Bill White, is ignoring that mandate and beginning his battle to bring it back. Governor Parker and several legislators have already put themselves on the public record as working to alter Ammendment 1, a bill passed by voters with overa 60% approval to limit gerrymandering, lobbyist gifts, access to the public records of emails regarding state business, et.al.,and every one of these individuals has a R as their party affiliation. Our area here in SW Mo votes about 70-80% Republican. This area is voting for politicians that ignore the will of the voters, and keep doing so year after year, wondering how these guys got rich. It is possible that this area is the 40% that voted against the successful common sense citizen petitions, but it also possible voters are flipping a coin, or just plain stupid.

No, Obama didn’t have a family separating policy, that is a Trump policy. No other president has been so evil. Google it, unless you believe that is controlled by “deep state conspiracy”. Don’t be a Trump mushroom, kept in the dark and fed bullshit.

Anonymous said...

Obama did it too? Who cares if he did or didn't? We shouldn't have borders anyway.

Anonymous said...

I would care if Obama separated children from their parents, and forced them to live apart, it goes against decency. Decency is a virtue Trump lacks. There is nothing wrong with border security, but a fence is hardly secure from ladders or tunnels. The cost of taking land from the families that live along the 1400 miles of unfenced border will be a prolonged and astronomically expensive process that will be fought tooth and nail by affected landowners.

Anonymous said...

Again, who needs a border? Who needs decency and law? We are people, not cattle. Do not fence us in physically or metaphorically.

Anonymous said...

@ 1:01

Again, you are literally born while fenced in at the hospital. You’re fenced in by the necessity to earn money to live, you’re fenced into school to get an education, you’re fenced in to follow laws unless you want to physically spend your life in confinement, you’re fenced in to be decent unless you prefer the consequences of your actions. So metaphorically, you are indeed fenced in.

Borders are just another way to steal our freedom. No borders.
