The jury trial of a man who at the time of his arrest for statutory rape was described as "a youth group leader at a very large church in Joplin" is scheduled to begin Tuesday in Jasper County Circuit Court. The trial is expected to last two days.
Bond for John Vincent Estes, 29, is set at $25,000 cash and $25,000 surety.
The Jasper Police Department arrested John Vincent Estes, 29, following an investigation into a sexual assault involving a juvenile girl.
From the probable cause statement:
Information was given that a sexual assault and sexual abuse occurred on 11/23/2021 and 11/24/2021 at (a location) in Jasper, Missouri. The suspect was identified as John V. Estes, the victim being a juvenile female.
It was disclosed by (the girl) during a forensic interview that while at a friend's house (in) Jasper, Missouri, (she) woke up to Estes rubbing her back while she was lying on a mattress in the living room. Estes then took (the girl) to the garage and had sexual intercourse with her.
On 12-1-2021, Estes admitted to giving both (the girl) and her friend a back massage. Estes also stated he laid in between the girls on the mattresses in the living room for about an hour.
Estes refused to give a sample of his saliva for DNA comparison.
On the Jasper Police Department Facebook page, Karr indicated that not only did Estes claim to be a youth leader at a church, but that the Carthage Police Department arrested him for child molestation six years ago. This was a predator type incident where through investigation it was shown that the suspect used text messaging and other means to lure and attempt to lure the juvenile to his residence. Estes also said he is a youth leader on the student ministries team at a large church in Joplin, but was previously at the Carthage congregation of the same church.
Estes has a previous arrest in 2015 by Carthage Police Department for child molestation-2nd degree.

Rebiblican Jesus take the wheel from the church sinners that may have enabled this accused pervert!
I was told we need to worry about drag queens but every time somebody hurts a kid it's another white guy
Let me fix this for you:
I was told by the republican church people we need to worry about drag queens but every time somebody hurts a kid it's another white republican conservative church pastor minister guy.
Couldn’t have said it better 4:10. Now let’s hope he doesn’t have friends in the courts.
Is it one of those big churches that has lots of faithful people faithfully tithing until it hurts?
Hope so, that way the alleged victims might think about suing someone who can afford to pay!
"Estes has a previous arrest in 2015 by Carthage Police Department for child molestation-2nd degree."
This seems like something Turner Report readers would be interested in.
He apparently was not a juvenile in 2015.
Drag queens, book burnings, and the conservative assault on society. Looks like carrying a weapon to church is not going to stop mass shooters or pedophiles from infiltrating your place of worship.
Nothing will keep Satan out of church, that is his purpose to destroy Christianity, he knows the Bible better than anyone.
I believe separating church and state was a bad idea, pornography, lustfull lifestyle, divorces, drugs, alcoholism etc. stem from not having god as our priority. If the United States last until 2076 I’d be amazed look at the changes in just the last 75 years, computers the size of a house versus an Apple Watch, the younger generation wants handouts and embraces socialist ideas and lifestyle. Call me names I don’t care I wear the armor of God, and you could to, all you need to do is accept Jesus Christ As Your savior.
And please don’t get church mixed up with God, I’m confident God has not been in a lot of churches, a good church is very hard to find.
I sincerely hope that any person having recognized the current total depravity of many Amercian churches does not vote for the same politicians that their fellow depraved worshipers do.
Save me jeebus
All churches should take extra precautions to investigate any person in leadership to help prevent this type of horrendous crime. It's beyond disgusting, especially for a so called Christian. As with any venue, you have good and bad people. It's got nothing to do with the church or God, but rather with the individual. There are good and bad in everything.
@7:22 "I believe separating church and state was a bad idea". This is one of a few things that makes us free. It is entirely wrong to force your religion onto others.
Quit spending that money that says In God We Trust, if you’re offended.
I bet the weirdo 6:01 thinks America is a Christian nation.
