Former Jasper fireman's wife charged with witness tampering in child molestation case pleads not guilty, bond reduced

During an arraignment this morning in Jasper County Circuit Court, Audrey Taffner, 31, Jasper, pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of tampering with a witness in the child molestation case against her husband, former Jasper Fire Department engineer Jerred Taffner.

The probable cause statement said the Taffners "discussed different ways which may prohibit juvenile (name withheld) from testifying in court regarding the sexual abuse."

The Taffners were unaware their conversation, which was held at the Jasper County Jail, was being monitored.

Judge Joseph Hensley reduced Audrey Taffner's bond from $25,000 cash-only to a $25,000 surety bond.
Jerred Taffner faces two counts of child molestation, one count of sodomy, involving a child less than 12 years of age and one count of statutory sodomy.

His arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. August 27 in Division I.

He is being held in the Jasper County Jail without bond
