Lowe's officials after outsourcing thousands of jobs: Workers will be able to spend more time on sales floor

I
t is hard to put a positive spin when you have announced you are firing thousands of workers but Lowe's is giving it a shot.

The company announced it is outsourcing maintenance and assembly jobs, eliminating thousands of positions.

The chain confirmed that it is "moving to third-party assemblers and facility services to allow Lowe’s store associates to spend more time on the sales floor serving customers."

It does not clear how the company expects the employees whose jobs no longer exist to be able to spend time on the sales floor unless they return as customers.

Continuing the positive spin company officials says there will be a transition payment for those whose jobs are affected and they can apply for Lowe's openings.

It would appear most of the "transitions" will be from Lowe's employee to unemployed.

I work for Lowes and I am one of those affected by these so called"improvements". My position is being merged with the customer service desk to further "help customers". The assembly positions and janitorial maintenance positions have nothing to do with any part of serving the customer on the sales floor. No floor people were doing these positions so they were not taken away from customer service. They will now...because these third parties are unreliable.
The assemblers work by the piece, paid by how many items they assemble. They did this at my store assembling grills. Wheels were falling off, bolts were loose, parts falling off.
Janitor/maintenance... within two days the toilet paper in the bathrooms ran out and the stalls were filthy both in customer and employee restroom. No third party has shown up yet. now..guess whose job it is to clean them now? yes... those employees they want out helping customers on the floor are back cleaning the bathrooms. Perfect sense.
Were we offered other positions? yes... part time hours, pay decrease and being we cant quit and file for unemployment because we were read a note from head offices stating there are positions available and we neglected to take it.
Marvin is running this company into the ground. As he did with JcPemnny. His former employment at Home Depot just shows he's a stooge.
