Joplin man charged with felony auto theft less than two weeks after being given suspended sentence for felony auto theft

A Joplin man is being held in the Henry County Jail with a $15,000 cash bond after the Highway Patrol arrested him 11:25 p.m. Sunday on felony tampering with a vehicle, felony resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated (drugs), driving while suspended and for not wearing a seat belt.

The arrest took place only 13 days after Johnny Sieben, 42, pleaded guilty in Jasper County Circuit Court to another auto theft charge. Under the plea bargain agreement with the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office, Sieben was sentenced to six years in prison, but his sentence was suspended and he was placed on supervised probation for five years.

Jasper County Circuit Court online records indicate the guilty plea was for a crime committed March 1, 2018 when the Duquesne Police Department arrested him.

Sunday's arrest marked at least the third time Sieben has been arrested for auto theft was sentenced to three years in prison, then the sentence was suspended after the Liberty Police Department arrested him in 2009.

Sieben had another DWI conviction after being arrested May 5, 2013 by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.

He was sentenced to 60 days in the county jail.

Henry County online records indicate Judge Harold Dump II, in addition to the $15,000 cash bond, set conditions should Sieben be able to make bond.

Sieben cannot possess alcohol or controlled substances and cannot drive a vehicle unless it is his own.

If he did so, it would appear Sieben would be breaking the law since he was arrested for driving while suspended.
