The tragic violence this weekend in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, is met with pundits and politicians trying to identify the problem and offer fixes.

Crazy liberals are always trying to point out how these mass shootings don't happen in other countries that restrict gun ownership, as if there's some obvious connection there.
Yeah and the crazy liberals also try to point out that it is always right wing nut jobs who do the shootings as if Dayton didn't happen.
Shooters may tend to be far right extremists, but it is the left's policies in urban areas like Chicago, Baltimore, Memphis, etc. that contribute to gun violence everyday.
Both sides have blame.

Let's stick to mental illness. If guns weren't available a car into a crowd works. Fertilizer works. Box knives to high Jack planes to use as weapons works.
After the OKC bombing the sale of fertilizer became extremely regulated and restricted. After 9/11, scrutinous passenger carry-on screening was implemented to keep box knives and other weapons out of commercial airplane cabins. If we began to consistently experience attacks on crowds of pedestrians in this country I have no doubt we would come up ways to mitigate that as well. Yet guns, THE very one thing that every mass shooting has in common and cannot be committed without, remain widely available. This country's failure to address gun violence is a glaring inconsistency, given how we have otherwise always at least attempted to solve serious problems.

Look, do we need better screening processes? Sure, why not? But if someone wants to do harm, they will find a way.

Every country on the planet has people with mental health problems. Yet, we have all the mass shootings. I wonder why that is?

Could it be that anytime there is a mass shooting elsewhere that the U.S. media doesn't harp on it for weeks on end so that people in this country aren't aware?

Let's liken guns to Marijuana. A significant amount of the population wants marijuana to be legal but it hasn't been. There are those law abiding citizens who refrain from using marijuana because it is illegal. However, there are also those people willing to break the law in order to posses marijuana. So, if guns are deemed illegal, are they going to magically disappear? Nope. The people who really want them will still acquire them.
Building strong families is a great idea and a hard task. Ted Bundy had a great relationship with his mother and he had a healthy appetite for murder. Sometimes there are rotten people who do horrible things regardless of how strong their family is. FYI: Not everybody can control their cholesterol with a pill. Sometimes biology controls us. All we can do to reduce mass murder is to get a tighter control on weapons that do the most damage in the shortest amount of time.
