Troy Onstott reaches major goal today, feeding tube removed, sets his future goals

This morning, Troy Onstott, 10, son of T. J. and Jill Onstott of Lamar, achieves another major goal in his recovery at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

His mother tells the story in a Facebook update posted this morning.

Day 36:

On Sunday, we set two major goals for Troy to accomplish this week. He conquered one of those goals by Monday and the second goal (removing that feeding tube) is planned to happen this morning.

Not only is he exceeding our goals, but the hospital teacher started working with him on Monday (yesterday was his second day with her). She was THRILLED to tell us that he doubled the amount of math problems that he did during their last session and he was even more engaging this session. She literally jumped up and down telling us about it

Troy’s OT therapist gave us this sheet of paper, thought we might want to keep it. Not only is it so sweet but he wrote with his RIGHTY! I’m so proud of this boy!

God- you AMAZE me. This boy wakes up with a smile on his face every morning.

Even when he demands breakfast (which is a blessing in itself), he does it with a smile on his face. I just love it!

No better way to start our day (unless we were at home with our littles, too). You promised full recovery Lord and he is on his way. THANK YOU JESUS! You have carried us through this storm and I have FULL FAITH that you will protect us from what’s yet to come. We trust in you fully Lord.
AMEN
