Lawyers for Jedediah Stout, 29, Joplin, charged with arson in connection with two fires set at the Joplin Planned Parenthood building, are asking for another three months to prepare for his trial.
A motion filed today in U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri indicates the federal public defenders, who were appointed Oct. 21, need more time to prepare for the trial. The motion is unopposed by the goverrnment, according to the document.
Stout has admitted to law enforcement officers that he was involved, not only in the Planned Parenthood fires, but also that he was responsible for the arson fire that destroyed the Islamic Society Mosque of Joplin. At this point, no charges have been filed in that case.
