Wind chill advisory issued for Joplin area

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WIND
CHILL ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO
10 AM CST SATURDAY.
* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS AND THE
MISSOURI OZARKS OVERNIGHT TONIGHT THROUGH 10 AM SATURDAY
MORNING.
* WIND CHILL VALUES...AIR TEMPERATURES WILL FALL WELL INTO THE
SINGLE DIGITS ABOVE ZERO AND WITH A NORTHERLY WIND BETWEEN 5 AND
10 MPH...WIND CHILL VALUES WILL RANGE FROM 5 TO 15 BELOW ZERO.
* IMPACTS...THE BITTER COLD AND STRONG WINDS CAN FREEZE EXPOSED
FLESH IN A MATTER OF MINUTES...RESULTING IN FROST BIT AND
LEADING TO HYPOTHERMIA.
