Koch, Martucci to be sworn in Tuesday night
What is not known yet is whether they will become board members at that point or if the documents will not be officially signed until the regular board meeting Tuesday, April 21, which would provide one last chance for Anne Sharp and the current school board to conduct business, which purportedly includes approving an assessment program, which would cost the district approximately $300,000 over the next three years. The program is being pushed by Curriculum Director Sarah Stevens, the same one who has saddled the district with the Common Core Collaborative, a consultant group that has cost taxpayers approximately $100,000 with the total still increasing.
What has also not been settled is exactly where the swearing-in will take place, only that it will be at the high school.
District officials were aware early that Koch would be in Washington, D. C. on April 21 on a business trip. That would not keep him from being able to participate in a meeting of the new board since board member Mike Landis has been absent from several meetings, but has participated by Skype, but it would prevent him from taking part in a swearing-in ceremony.
Efforts were made to move the regular board meeting up, but board meetings can only be called by the president and Anne Sharp appears to be in no hurry to relinquish her position.
