Tornado sirens sound again in Joplin; warning issued for Newton County

Tornado sirens sounded moments ago in Joplin, shortly before 3 a.m. as a second round of storms hit the area.

The following message was issued by the National Weather Service:

A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR NEWTON COUNTY UNTIL 330 AM
CDT...

AT 258 AM CDT...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO
WAS LOCATED NEAR SAGINAW...AND MOVING EAST AT 60 MPH.

HAZARD...TORNADO AND HALF DOLLAR SIZE HAIL.

SOURCE...RADAR INDICATED ROTATION.

IMPACT...FLYING DEBRIS WILL BE DANGEROUS TO THOSE CAUGHT WITHOUT
         SHELTER. MOBILE HOMES WILL BE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED. DAMAGE
         TO ROOFS...WINDOWS AND VEHICLES WILL OCCUR. TREE DAMAGE IS
         LIKELY.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
DIAMOND...FAIRVIEW...GRANBY...LEAWOOD...NEOSHO...SAGINAW...SENECA AND
SOUTHERN JOPLIN.
