Dorton to take over as JHS ninth grade principal with Flora moving to 11th grade

(As reported in the July 2 Turner Report, The Joplin R-8 Board of Education hired Kaci Dorton as assistant high school principal, replacing Dan Hueller, who resigned to become Seneca High School principal. The Joplin Schools news release is posted below.)

(Kaci) Dorton began her educational career in 2006, teaching technology education at Joplin High School. In 2015, she started working at Franklin Technology Center as the Vocational Special Services Coordinator. Dorton has also coordinated Project Lead The Way programs at Joplin High School and Franklin Technology Center. She has served the district for 12 years. Dorton will take over the 9th grade class, with Mr. Josh Flora moving to take over the 11th grade class.

"Ms. Dorton is a fantastic representative of Joplin Schools and the greatness that lies within. I am very pleased to add her to our administrative team and know that she will be quite influential within the school community," said Dr. Shane Hopper, JHS Principal.

Dorton earned her bachelor's degree in technology education and master's degree in educational leadership, both from Pittsburg State University. She will complete her specialist degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State University in August.
