Joplin businessman David Humphreys is threatening to sue Democrats for disparaging him in their advertising, according to a Kansas City Star article.
The advertising said Humphreys "bought right to work in Missouri," that he was "buying off politicians."
The article said Humphrey sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Missouri House Democratic Committee, telling them to quit making false statements.
In the accompanying Kansas City Star video, Rep. Peter Meredith, D-St. Louis, says the information put out by the House Victory Committee was to make sure people knew "the other side is primarily funded by one person."
Rep. Gina Mitten, D-St. Louis, the assistant minority floor leader, said, "We're not Josh Hawley. Our caucus cannot be bought by Humphreys' money."

Humphreys is spending millions to get the right to work law passed, not because there is no right to work, but because he fears organized labor. He should be spending those millions to improve the quality of his shingles, the de-granulation noted by numerous home inspectors is a flaw that effectively reduces the life of the shingle by half. Humphreys donates a pittance to local organizations, trots his employees on TV to attest that they love working for him, in an effort to deceive the public into believing in his generosity. The fact is, right to work states have lower wages, and that translates to more money in David’s pocket. Substantially more than bribing politicians with a few million, Humphreys is a billionaire because he looks out for himself, not your interest. Do not be fooled by a wolf in sheep’s clothing, David is looking out for David.
