C. J. Huff on leadership: The board sat in the back of the room and didn't say a word

During his keynote presentation Wednesday, November 5, to the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas, Joplin R-8 Superintendent C. J. Huff revealed the following:

-"Graduation from high school was not considered extremely important in Joplin," when he arrived here in 2008.

-He knew during an interview with Great VanSusteren of Fox News that "I felt it was time to say something inspirational." He said that "Joplin is about to show the world what it is made of."

-During the first meeting of district officials the morning after the tornado "The school board sat in the back of the room and didn't say a word."

-"I never told the board" that he was going to announce that school would start in 84 days.

-Before doing anything else after the tornado "I began creating a new vision for teaching and learning in Joplin."

"There were people who ridiculed the idea of getting schools open on time."

-His vow that school will start on time is now known far and wide as "the promise kept."

After his keynote address, Huff and other speakers at the conference had drinks on the veranda with VIPS, those who either spent $7,500 to become a platinum sponsor, $5,00 to be a gold sponsor, or $2,500 to be a silver sponsor, according to the advertising for the event.

If you take the time and listen to him speak about this he does NOT know the streets of Joplin. He stated he was on 32nd Street and pasted St Johns and the came up on Freeman. He also states that after his near death experience that he came up on Scheffindecker and saw St. Johns. From where he lives you Can NOT see St Johns. This man is a real piece of work. Embleshment of a tragedy is a disgrace! Why has Joplin said enough is enough and run this clown off?
