Sears closing 10 more stores, Joplin's Northpark Mall store not on the list

The Sears anchor store at Joplin's Northpark Mall has survived another round of cuts as the company announced today it is closing 10 more stores.

The latest list does not include any Missouri stores and involves the elimination of nine Sears stores and one KMart.

Seventy-eight Sears stores are scheduled to close in September.

Sears has closed more than 500 stores in the past 15 months.

So sad, for those of us who remember Sears at Eastmoreland Plaza in Joplin. Each store-closing announcement brings the old company closer to its demise.

The old company died years ago, much like Toys R Us. It's just a husk of Sears on life support until it finally dies, and with good reason.
