Lamar mother offers update from Children's Mercy Hospital on 10-year-old injured in UTV crash

In a Facebook message posted seven hours ago, Jill Onstott, Lamar, offered an update on the condition of her 10-year-old son, Troy, who was airlifted to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City Wednesday following a UTV crash.

She and her husband, T. J., passed along their gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of support from the public.

The message is printed below:

Day 2: Children’s Mercy KC

We were hopeful for better news to share with you tonight but there were no significant changes made today.

They have been monitoring his ICP (Intracranial pressure) which measures the pressure in his head using a small probe that is inserted through the skull. So far so good, under sedation.

He has also been running a fever, so poor guy has been laying on a cooling blanket to help lower his body temp. He does not like it one bit. So again, sedation. They also gave him a feeding tube today through his nose (which if you know Troy then you know to stay away from his already broken, sensitive to the touch, nose). So all in all, he just needs more time to wake up. And that's exactly what we’ll give him.

TJ and I want to THANK YOU all from the bottom of our hearts. You guys are truly amazing. Your love and support has been so uplifting sending our emotions through the roof. And most importantly, your prayers...they mean everything to us. Please continue to pray!

We absolutely believe God has Troy tucked under his wing protecting him from this unexpected storm. And no, we don’t understand why this is happening to our sweet boy but we have faith in God’s plan, and together they will soar. I just know it.

But until then, I will continue to watch this handsome boy sleep, resting his broken body, preparing for what lies ahead.
