Would someone explain WHY we need a new library? ? ?
Joplin history needs to be with the museum.

It is like elevator operators . . . The writing is on the wall ! ! !

The only couple folks I have heard wanting the new library answered my "WHY" with "It will get the homeless out of downtown".

As with all these types of things now days, a few hundred thousand bucks is spent on a consultant to organize various public meetings so that all these committees and board directors can claim to strongly promote public input in to the final product. It has nothing to do with need. The money is granted, it is done. So far, especially from the public input meeting for teens, the library people have expressed great excitement of suggestions for a beverage and coffee shop, areas for entertainment, maybe just a teen hangout center in general, an indoor ice skating rink would be nice, since there is nothing for these kids to do around here while they are skipping school, possibly a video game arcade, you know, a place friendly to our youth. For the adults, I would suggest a reasonably priced bar and grill. I believe Joplin deserves a facility on the cutting edge, just like our new schools.
